Exposition
- If Exposition is on the altar:
- Get the monstrance and base and place on the altar. The base must be centered (look down the center aisle) and on the lengthwise crease of the altar-cloth. Set the monstrance closer to you on your right of the base.
- Then bring candles (most experienced server should take candles) use the same reference point (a crease or "arm's length") to place the candelabra symmetrically. Do not be sloppy! Blow out the altar candles on each side when you place the candelabra on that side.
- If Exposition is on the tabernacle:
- Candelabra should already be at the tabernacle, if not, put them there.
- Blow out the altar candles.
- Once each person is done, head down to the center. Any time the priest bows, all servers bow. Follow the priest's cue when he comes down; genuflect together and join him in kneeling on the first step.
- If using incense: (approved servers only) Thurifer stands to the right of the priest, boat-bearer on the left. Boat-bearer removes the lid and hands it to the priest (carefully); thurifer lifts the top of the censer so the priest can add incense. The priest will hand the boat back; thurifer lowers top and gives censer to the priest. All Servers: bow with the priest.
- Follow the lead server to stand, genuflect, and return.
Benediction
- Prepare kneeler and Missalette
- One server for bells, one with humeral veil, one each for boat and censer (incense optional). All: Bow with the priest.
- After the Eucharistic hymn has been sung, priest will say a prayer. Then give him incense as in Exposition. All Servers Kneel.
- Give priest humeral veil. Hold a clasp in each hand, the one with the chain on your right hand (even though it looks funny it will always work out). Drape it over him. Kneel.
- Ring bell and use incense when monstrance is in the absolute center (vertically and horizontally):
- Up, down, up to center, RING & INCENSE
- Left, right to center, RING & INCENSE
- Right, left to center, RING & INCENSE
- Now, priest comes down. Be ready to take humeral veil. Turn out to your left to fold it. Fold in half 3 times over. Hold it, folded over your arms with the double-stripe out.
- When finished, bell-server comes down and process out. Or Reposition of the Blessed Sacrament may follow, in which case all remain kneeling until the tabernacle is closed again, then stand.
